Freight Shipping from China to the UK

Whether FCL or LCL, containers from China are our speciality; for UK imports from the People’s Republic of China (or PRC for short), our shipping services for cheap sea freight from China are unsurpassed. China-UK freight services are in our blood. We cover the distance of roughly 18,000km in as little as 24 days, and we quote the best sea freight rates around for full container loads. Less than a container load is equally welcome, and our knowledgeable container shipping advisors are at your disposal. As a major freight forwarder from China, cargo to UK from PRC are prime logistics for Barrington Freight; handling both 20ft and 40ft containers, inexpensive shipping from China is our business – we operate via all the following ports:

Shipping freight from Chiwan

The Port of Chiwan lies west of Shenzhen City; along with Shenzhen Port itself, it is one of many ports serving the area. We offer a full UK container service from China via this port, so if your UK imports from China originate from here then “CNCWN” is an excellent choice. Historically, in the Qing Dynasty, forts protected the Pearl River from the British during the Opium Wars; the "Left Fort" still overlooks modern day container shipping.

Shipping freight from Guangzhou

Guangzhou Port is the largest in Southern China, a vital transport hub for the industries of Guandong Province and nearby provinces of Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi. Guangzhou is also known as Canton (home of Cantonese food), and is one of the most prosperous regions in China; but industrial pollution is rife. It is noted for vehicle assembly, bio-technology and heavy industry, and all contribute to the demand for 20ft and 40ft container sea freight from China to the UK.

Shipping freight from Hong Kong

The special administrative region Hong Kong has a deep-water natural harbour in the South China Sea, and our cheap international shipping services benefit greatly from its numerous container terminals. Full container loads (FCL) benefit from our discounted sea freight rates, though LCL / Less than a container load accounts for much of our freight shipping from China. “Made in Hong Kong” is perhaps less common in the UK since decolonisation in 1997, but our imports from Hong Kong remain significant.

Shipping freight from Huangpu

Huangpu Port lies on the Zhujiang River, east of Guangzhou City. A river harbour with good shelter, there are tidal restrictions for docking; pilotage is compulsory. The district became the commercial centre of Shanghai in the late 19th century, and retains its bustling nature today; the old Chinese City is nearby, likewise the “British Concession” (returned to China in 1943). The Shanghai Municipal Council remain in Huangpu, and this is a popular port for cargo to the UK from the region.

Shipping freight from Ningbo

The Port of Ningbo was established 738AD during the Tang Dynasty, then known as “Mingzhou”. After a recent merger with Zhoushan Port in 2006, by 2012 it shipped 744 million metric tons of cargo via its 191 berths. For FCL / LCL sea freight from China, it is highly favoured by exporters to and importers from China alike. Choose Barrington Freight as your freight forwarder from Ningbo to the UK; cheap international shipping services, by professional experienced agents you can trust.

Shipping freight from Qingdao

The Yellow Sea Port of Qingdao includes both Qianwan Container Terminal and Cosport International Container Terminal, ideal for consignment of containers from China to the UK. AKA Tsingtao, it claims to be the world’s 8th busiest container port. Many UK imports from PRC pass through Qingdao, and the port is a large terminal for iron ore and other bulk materials. An industrial zone outside Qingdao city centre includes chemical processing, rubber and heavy machinery manufacture, plus a blossoming high-tech industry.

Shipping freight from Shanghai

Shanghai Port competes successfully with others nearby, growing from 14million TEU to over 32million in recent years (20ft container = 1teu, 40ft container = 2teu). The entire port is the size of 470 football pitches, with rapid expansion largely due to the construction of the Yangshan deep-water facility; opened in 2005, it can handle the world's biggest container shipping. The largest city in the world with 2013 population of 24 million, Shanghai is a major hub for Chinese expressways.

Shipping freight from Skekou

Another port in the area, Shekou Port, lies at the tip of Nantou Peninsular in the Nanshan District of Shenzhen, Guangdong. It is local to and serves the Shekou Industrial Zone developed by China Merchants Group (a state owned corporation), as well as Chinese freight from further afield. “CNSHK” containers from China frequently figure in our cheap sea freight quotes; for the very best inexpensive freight forwarding experience available, use Barrington’s Sea Freight from China!

Shipping freight from Shenzen

The Port of Shenzhen is adjacent to Hong Kong in the southern Pearl River Delta, with around 130 international container routes shipping from China. Split by the Kowloon peninsula, the western port is deep-water with natural shelter, the eastern port north of Dapeng Bay is considered the best natural harbour in south China. Hong Kong and Shenzhen have very close social, business and trade links; of Shenzhen’s 2006 US$333 billion imports from Hong Kong, almost US$300 billion were re-exported abroad.

Shipping freight from Tianjin

Tianjin Port (formerly known as the Port of Tanggu) is the largest port in northern China, on the west of Bohai Bay in the estuary of the Haihe River. With quays stretching over 32km, it serves the hinterland of Tianjin City and the Chinese capital Beijing; although (respectively) 56km and 160km distant, numerous expressways provide easy access for sea freight from China. The cheap international container shipping delivers both FCL and LCL UK imports from China.

Shipping freight from Xiamen

The world's top 20 shipping companies have all established major Chinese freighting operations in Xiamen Port, which serves Fujian province from the mouth of the Jiulongjiang River. Lying on the straits of Taiwan, it was the first mainland PRC port to commence direct shipment of cargo to Kaohsiung in ROC. With 74 berths across nine container terminals, many 20ft and 40ft containers from China benefit from cheap shipping rates from this port.

Shipping freight from Xingang

Xingang Port operates under the Port of Tianjin Authority, being effectively part of the same sprawling complex, but with its own port code “CNXGG”. As such, Chinese sea freight cargo to UK from PRC may well use Xingang, especially FCL / LCL of pallets and cartons from the Beijing region or beyond. For container shipping from China, choose the experts Barrington Freight as your preferred freight forwarder from the People’s Republic.

Shipping freight from Yantian

Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) is another port serving the Shenzhen area, with a 17m deep approach channel, and 16 deep-water berths for loading containers from China. The stated mission of the Port of Yantian is “export-led economic growth of South China, by providing world class container terminal services” (for shipping from China). International freight shipping finds Yantian an attractive gateway to manufacturing centres in Southern China; ring us now for cheap sea freight from PRC.

Shipping freight from Dalian

The Port of Dalian is the most northerly port in the country to remain ice-free year round; 80 berths (of which 38 are deep-water) offer a Yellow Sea gateway to the Pacific Ocean, and it is the second largest trans-shipment hub for mainland PRC. We offer this cheap freight forwarding for UK imports from northern China, our experienced staff are just waiting to book your 20ft and 40ft containers onto our value shipping services.

Shipping freight from Foshan

Foshan Prefecture is third largest in terms of manufacturing output from the Pearl River Delta, with key industries including ceramics, plastic products, electronics and communications, non-metal ore and manufacturing thereof, stainless steel items, tools, household electrical appliances and furniture. Foshan Hi-Tech Development Zone is close to national highway G325 and supports vehicle assembly, bio-technology and chemical processing. These local industries generate sea freight via the Port of Foshan on the Xi River, so book these FCL / LCL with us!

Shipping freight from Fuzhou

The Port of Fuzhou is a large natural seaport on the Minjiang River Estuary, near the Straits of Taiwan. It serves the prefectures of Fujian and Ningde; nearby Ningde Port merged with Fuzhou in 2009, leading to a total cargo throughput of 127million tonnes in 2013. Containers from China to Taiwan totalled 332,500 TEU in that year; but in truth most shipping from the PRC port travels worldwide. We are the first-choice freight forwarder from China, use Barrington Freight for high-quality yet inexpensive freight forwarding.

Shipping freight from Hangzhou

The Port of Hangzhou (aka Hangchow) is a small river port, code “CNHGH”, on the Fuchun River at the head of the funnel-shaped Hangzhou bay. Its incoming tide can create a spectacular bore of up to 8metre in height, to the detriment of Chinese shipping! Hangzhou city has long been a centre of silk production, and more recently it has become a major industrial complex manufacturing textiles, iron/steel products, motor vehicles, pharmaceuticals, cement, rubber, paper and bamboo products, and much else.

Shipping freight from Jiangmen

Jiangmen Port lies on the Nantan River in Guangdong Province, its second largest river port; local government is planning a harbour-side industrial zone to house heavy industry such as petrochemical and machinery plants. The city lies astride a network of intra-city roadways and inter-city highways, which greatly encourage the cheap international container shipping from the port. Sea freight from China – 20ft and 40ft containers to the world!

Shipping freight from Nanhai

Like the port of Foshan, Nanhai Port is another Xi River harbour, indeed it lies in the prefecture of Foshan City. The Nanhai docks sit just off the Guizhou Waterway. Apart from its role in Chinese sea freight, Nanhai district is a major tourist destination; attractions include Mount Xiqiaoshan, the Huang Tai Sen Temple, the Golden Bathing Beach, Nanguo Peach Garden, and the Fairy Lake of Danzao. Cargo to UK from China never had it so good.

Shipping freight from Nanjing

The Port of Nanjing in Jiangsu Province is considered by many to be the largest inland port in the world, and is situated on the lower reaches of the Yangtze River just before its spreads out into the Yangtze Delta. With a long history stretching back to AD229, Nanjing now accepts international container shipping on eighteen 10,000-dwt wharves, and has fifty-two others of 1,000-dwt. With 60,000sq.m. of warehousing and nearly as much again in storage yards, many imports from China ship from here.

Shipping freight from Nantong

In the same area, the Port of Nantong consists of nine natural Yangtze River port areas, and three artificial deep water coastal port areas – namely Yangkou, Lusi and Lengjiasha. The original river port was opened in 1904 by the industrialist Zhang Jian, but Nantong Port proper opened 1982. Expansion continued apace, with container volume increasing from 2,600 TEU in 1985 to 462,000 in 2010. With numerous industrial zones producing and exporting Chinese goods worldwide, cheap sea freight forwarders are a must for the Nantong area.

Shipping freight from Rongqi

Barrington Freight offer value-for-money sea freight from China, alongside unbeatable customer service. For your imports from China, speak to us first – not least for container shipping from the Port of Rongqi. Opened in 1987, this cargo-only port is another on the Xi River waterways of Foshan in Guandong. Handling both 20ft and 40ft containers, we can book your full container loads (or less than a container load) at competitive sea freight rates from this port.

Shipping freight from Shantou

The Port of Shantou is the only major port in eastern Guangdong, and in particular it serves the Shantou Special Economic Zone. With a 150-year history, Shantou Port Group is now a large state enterprise which has improved the transport infrastructure as well as the (now five) port areas themselves. 268 ports in 57 countries around the world receive imports from China via Shantou, it is one of the preferred ports for shipping from China.

Shipping freight from Shunde

The Shunde Port in Foshan lies just 1km from Rongqi Port, and is primarily a passenger port with a frequent service to Hong Kong; the passenger service was in fact relocated there from Rongqi in 1998. As such, you are unlikely to be able to send cargo to the UK from Shunde Port itself, containers from China are more likely to be shipping from Rongqi where good international freight shipping facilities will be found.

Shipping freight from Suzhou

Back now to the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, to the important river transport hub of inland Suzhou Port. Most of the port’s trade is in coal, ore, steel, and construction materials such as cement; port code “CNSZH” has a sizeable container facility, and FCL / LCL consignments attract very special sea freight rates with us here at Barrington Freight – the professional freight forwarders from the Yangtze! Your CN-GB freight is safe with us.

Shipping freight from Wenzhou

Shipping freight from Xiaolan

The Port of Xiaolan is another small river port, lying on the Xiaolan Channel; as such, it is not the most obvious choice for international shipping from China. Xiaolan Town is famous for 3 industries: manufacture of locks and associated products, electro-acoustics including high-tech audio equipment, and Chrysanthemum horticulture. Xiaolan Port offers cheap freight forwarding for local industry and containers from China, both 20ft and 40ft containers. We have cheap international shipping from this region; use Barrington Freight, the professional and knowledgeable freight forwarders from China.

Shipping freight from Zhongshan

Nearby Zhongshan Port is considered the “parent port” to Xiaolan above, and bears the name of the prefecture-level city which encompasses both. It lies on the east of the city, on the Hengmen Waterway just a short distance from the Zhujiang Delta (aka Pearl River Delta) and the South China Sea. Chinese shipping via the port supports the local industries of the city including furniture, electric household appliances, lighting fixtures, food processing and casual wear.

Shipping freight from Zhuhai

With the benefit of lying directly on the Zhujiang Delta, the Port of Zhuhai has seven main port areas; namely, Gaolan, Wanshan, Jiuzhou, Xiangzhou, Tangjia, Hongwan and Doumen - of which Gaolan is the primary port area for containers from China. Zhuhai is the only city on the western Pearl River Delta with natural deep-water ports, and the 131 berths surpassed 100 million tonnes throughput in 2013. “CNZUH” is a much-favoured seaport by cheap shipping from China, book FCL / LCL with Barrington Freight – the best for imports from China!

  • Hi Simon,
Just to say my pallet arrived last Thursday.
I must say a first class service by yourselves. It is the first time I have transported something from the continent and I was a bit anxious initially. But my worries were unfounded.
Thank you for a first class service.
