CASE STUDY

Delivering Tactical Ladder Entry Systems to Canada

Barrington Freight recently supported a UK manufacturer specialising in tactical ladder entry systems designed for elevated access and rescue requirements. The project involved the movement of a full 40ft container from Hampshire to Toronto, Canada, with sea freight used for the international leg.

The client required flexibility and precise handling to ensure the equipment reached its destination safely and on schedule.

Scope of Service

  • Service type: Full container load (FCL) – 1x 40ft container
  • Origin: Hampshire, UK
  • Destination: Toronto, Canada
  • Freight method: Sea freight with final delivery by truck
  • Booking date: 10 July 2025
  • Insurance: Goods-in-transit insurance provided by the client

The Challenge

The main challenge was at the collection stage. The loading site in Hampshire did not have facilities to live-load a container. This meant Barrington Freight could not simply position a container on a trailer and load directly.

To solve this, we arranged for the container to be dropped at kerbside using our side-loader services. This allowed the client to complete the loading over the course of a week at their own pace. Once the loading was complete, we collected the container and returned it to port for export.

Key Transport Milestones

  • Shipment booked: 10 July 2025
  • Goods collected: 16 July 2025 (container dropped to kerbside for one week, then collected again on 23 July)
  • Departure from UK port: 30 July 2025
  • Arrival in Toronto: 19 August 2025
  • Final delivery: 25 August 2025

Solutions Provided by Barrington Freight

  1. Side-loader container drop and collection
    – Ensured flexibility for the client where on-site loading equipment was unavailable.
    – Allowed one-week window for careful and secure loading.
  2.  Export handling and scheduling
    – Coordinated export documentation and ensured the container was delivered to port on time for the scheduled sailing.
  3. Seamless international transport
    – Managed the ocean freight leg and onward trucking in Canada to guarantee timely arrival at the consignee’s site.

Outcome

The tactical ladder systems arrived in Toronto on schedule and in excellent condition. By adapting to the client’s site limitations, Barrington Freight ensured the project ran smoothly from collection through to final delivery.

The client expressed satisfaction with the service, highlighting:

  • Reliable scheduling
  • Clear communication at each stage
  • Tailored solutions that overcame on-site restrictions
