STANDARD ROAD FREIGHT to Germany 3 DAYS
Our Standard Road Freight to Germany service is an ideal solution for less urgent consignments, offering an economical alternative through our groupage rates. This service allows you to share shipment space with other UK exporters to Germany, enabling significant cost savings. With this option, the groupage shipments are collected in week 1 and delivered in week 2.
For those with more urgent needs, our full-load service provides a much faster option, collecting shipments on day 1 and delivering by day 3 from any location in Germany to the UK, and vice versa. This faster service ensures both efficiency and reliability for your pressing transport requirements, making it a versatile choice for a range of shipping needs.
EXPRESS SHIPPING to Germany 2 DAYS
With years of experience in logistics across Europe with dedicated vehicles, we understand the urgent nature of delivering consignments to and from Germany. We typically achieve this with dedicated smaller vans. Of course, larger dedicated vehicles including Euroliners are also available if needed. Either way, you can expect consignments to be picked up on day 1 and arrive by day 2 when using express shipping to Germany.
Using road vehicles for your express delivery to Germany, our door-to-door freight forwarders avoid airline formalities and red tape. Instead, they keep things simple so your urgent haulage to or from Germany arrives on time, with minimum fuss and maximum peace of mind.

Dedicated vehicles also avoid time-consuming consolidation, unloading and reloading en route. It is faster and the risk of loss, damage or theft is reduced. Customs Considerations, VAT and Prohibited Items
VAT Germany
The standard rate of VAT in Germany is 19% although certain classes of so-called convenience goods are charged at 7%. This will necessarily affect any customs declarations you need to make for import duty and sales tax for any commercial shipments, something we can help with. Also, bear in mind that packaging is important in Germany and something for which exporters need to be prepared. See the German Packaging Act for further guidance.
Goods or Services | VAT Rate Germany |
---|---|
Standard taxable goods and services | 19% |
Reduced rate goods and services (e.g., some foodstuffs, printed books) | 7% |
Intra-community and international transport | 0% |
Restrictions
Exporting goods from the UK to Germany, as is the case with any EU country, is regulated. Make further checks if you are considering shipping to Germany any of the following items:
- Certain firearms and ammunition: Strictly regulated under EU law, they require appropriate licenses and documentation.
- Endangered species of flora and fauna: Protected under CITES, this includes products made from such species.
- Counterfeit products: Including goods infringing on intellectual property rights such as fake designer clothes, accessories and electronics.
- Hazardous chemicals: Restricted under the EU’s REACH regulation, Germany has other chemical safety laws to take into consideration.
- Cultural goods: Items of significant cultural value may require export licenses to prevent illegal trade.
- Ivory: This trade is highly regulated to protect endangered species even for antique items.
- Food items and agricultural products: Subject to health and safety regulations, including bans on certain GMOs and products not meeting EU standards.
EORI Number Germany
More customs documents and authorisations are needed now since Brexit to send goods to Europe. For starters, an EORI (Economic Operator Registration and Identification Number) is needed for both the UK and Germany alongside other documents and customs demands. Our blog, What is an EORI Number, is a great starting point to understand this.
Remember, too, that simply registering with HMRC as an importer of goods from Germany will not be sufficient – on its own – to be able to use German suppliers.
Barrington Freight operates as a customs clearance agency as well as a team of expert freight forwarders, so we can help you with all of these matters if you need us to, whether you’re importing or exporting. We have the necessary licensing arrangements in place to oversee exported goods from the UK to Germany which has the same regulations in place as every other EU state. Therefore, we can help with multiple consignment deliveries that might include some in Germany and some further afield, such as those in Italy, Spain or Belgium, for instance.
Shipping Routes to Germany from the UK

Shipping to Deutschland
Whatever drivers and vehicles we use, our courier service to Germany from the UK does not just cover London to Hamburg or Munich. From across Great Britain, we transport road freight to all of Germany in both directions.
Navigating Germany’s extensive network of roadways and autobahns, which stretches an impressive 8,046 miles, presents a unique set of challenges. Germany is home to one of the densest and longest road systems in the world, requiring expert knowledge and the right equipment for efficient navigation and timely deliveries.
We even reach remote German freight locations such as Bad Reichenhall (Bavaria) or Görlitz near the border with Poland. Efficient shipping to Germany could even mean Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt (probably via Dortmund and Hanover). Apparently, it is the German place furthest from an autobahn. The nearest is 59 kilometres away at Wolfsburg, Volkswagen’s Heimstadt.
Where is Germany Located?
Germany is in Central Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea and the North Sea: it lies south of Denmark, to the west of Poland and the Czech Republic, north-west of Austria, north of Switzerland, north-east of France, and east of Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Our transport options can accommodate even the most unique requests, whether they be UK and EU pallets and cargo or larger and strangely shaped products. Big or small, light or heavy, Barrington Freight is on hand to cater to all your freight needs at a competitive price.
